30 July, 2016
A National Cub Scout Campfire Night and Reaffirmation of the Cub Scout Promise (Scout Promise for the Leaders) will be happening on Saturday 30th July 2016 with the Reaffirmation of the Promise occurring at 8.00pm (2000h) in Queensland. So lock the date in your calendar and start your planning.
The date was chosen to be on a weekend, close to World Scout Day (1st August) and suitable for all Australian States in respect to season, fire restrictions, etc. The time of the Reaffirmation of the Promise was selected and coordinated so that all Cub Scouts participating around Australia will be reaffirming their Promise at the same time – so on East Coast States the time will be 8.00pm, in South Australia and Northern Territory it will be 7.30pm and in the West, it will be 6.00pm.
There will be no set format for the Cub Scout campfire, it will be up to individual Packs, Districts and/or Regions; the campfire can be part of a Sleep-over, Pack Holiday, District/Region Cub Scout camp, or just have a special Parade night. Your campfire will hopefully be outdoors but if weather does not allow, than an inside substitute will be the go. The only set criteria is that the campfire has a ‘100 years of Cub Scouting’ theme and that all Cub Scouts attending the various campfires in Queensland will reaffirm their Promise at 8.00pm; therefore probably towards/at the end of their campfire.
Packs will be able to post pictures of their campfire on the www.cub100.com.au website
