Special Interest Areas: The Gap Scout Group’s Cub Scouts show how it’s done!

Our Cub Unit have been encouraging our Cub Scouts to challenge themselves with SIA’s.  At the beginning of term we held a SIA presentation night where they could then present their SIA’s back to the Unit.  We had a great response from the Unit and wanted to share some of the ideas that have been presented.

Josh 8 years – Created a vegetable garden at home and researched then prepared a garden bed to grow beans.  He then created a book documenting his efforts.  This was for an Environment SIA.

Ronin 10 years – Created our Scout Den in Minecraft for a STEM SIA and also researched and built a working Waterwheel out of Paddlepop sticks.

Archie 10 years – Chose 3 different aeroplane models which he made and painted and then shared with us his interest in these and the differences between the planes

Juan 9 years – After a trip to Mon Repos to see Turtles hatching wrote and illustrated his own story which has since been printed and sent to the Mon Repos Conservation Park.  An Art and Literature SIA.
