What We’ve Been Up To

Bunya Park Scouts at the Toowoomba Community Iftar Dinner

On the 5th April Bunya Park Scouts were invited to the Toowoomba Community Iftar Dinner held at University of Southern Queensland.  We were honoured to be invited to the event and met with members of the Toowoomba Community.
The Scouts assisted in helping clean up afterwards.

Toohey Forest District – Cub Scout Leadership Course

Toohey Forest District ran a Cub Scout Leadership Course on the weekend for Cub Scouts from its District and neighbouring Ekibin District, at the Rochedale Scout Den.  The 15 Cub Scouts who attended had an excellent time, learning about the symbolism of our Australian flag, the behaviour expected of responsible Scouts, the Achievement Pathways and practising cooking pancakes.

It is great to see our emerging young leaders growing and developing, making new friends, and actively striving to become role models for the younger Scouts.

Moggill Scouts – Yamahra Creek Overnight Bushwalk

Seven Scouts and three leaders participated in an 8km return, class 4 hike into Yamahra Creek, Mount Barney National Park this weekend (18-19 of March). The trail was quite steep in parts and included several creek crossings.

Once arriving at our campsite, we set-up and then explored the creek and took a refreshing dip in its cool waters. Late afternoon saw us prepare our evening meal, followed by some free time for the Scouts while the Leaders did some star gazing and conversation.

All the Scouts who attended should be proud of their achievements this weekend. It was a hard walk carrying a loaded pack in warm/humid conditions, but an adventure they will remember!
