SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities

A sustainable city is one that respects sustainable development priorities from their social, economic and environmental perspective, and that allows its inhabitants to live in good conditions and in harmony with their surrounding nature.

Nowadays half of humanity – 3.5 billion people – is living in cities. By 2030, almost 60% of the world’s population will live in urban areas, and to accommodate everyone, we need to build modern, sustainable cities.

Within these cities, we will need to reduce our environmental impacts, including by paying special attention to air quality, water usage and council and other waste management systems.
