Que hitched a lift with one of the RDSOs, and went on a drive into Central Western Queensland. The first stop was a Basic Training Course at Keewol Park, Emerald on the banks of the Fairburn Dam, Lake Maraboon. It rained all weekend. As part of the camp cooking, Que got to see a “Bell oven” in action being used to roast beef. Dessert was Pineapple Upside Down Pudding. At the course, there were leaders from multiple sections from Blackwater, Emerald and Capella. The leader trainers were from Gladstone and Brisbane. On the same weekend, a Level 1 Canoe course was also being run.
