What we’ve been up to!

Rosewood Scouts

Rosewood Scouts enjoy sitting around their new fire circle.

The fire circle was Kirk Strudwick’s Wood Badge project, built with youth members input and labour. Rosewood parents also assisted, so it is a real Group supported project.

Nerang Joey Scouts celebrate Harmony Day

As a Group we discussed the diversity within our group and even though we are from a variety of different backgrounds, we all belong together and open our arms to each other. The Joey Scout’s worked on creating a Harmony Tree that is now displayed in our den for all section groups to see.

Clean Up Australia Day – Ross Vasta

I recently joined Councillor Lisa Atwood, Councillor Ryan Murphy, the Belmont Scouts and the Camp Hill Carindale Lions to clean up the Minnippi Parkland for Clean Up Australia Day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, it was a fantastic time!

Every small action counts and together we are keeping our beautiful community clean and green.

A big thanks to everyone who joined in on Clean Up Australia Day at Minnippi, across Bonner and all around Australia!

Bunya Park Scouts visit Toowoomba Community Iftar

On 19 March, the Bunya Park Scout Group ventured beyond their usual activities to attend the Toowoomba Community Iftar at the University of Southern Queensland. This event, organized by the Toowoomba Muslim community, offered a unique opportunity for the Scouts to learn about and experience Islamic culture.

The Iftar, a traditional meal shared by Muslims during Ramadan, provided a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The Scouts were greeted warmly by the organisers and had the chance to interact with members of the Toowoomba Muslim community as well as political leaders and advocates. This interaction fostered a sense of understanding and respect between the Scouts and the wider community.

The Scouts also had the opportunity to learn about the Islamic faith and the significance of Ramadan. They listened to presentations by community leaders and asked questions about Islamic practices and beliefs. This interactive learning experience broadened the Scouts’ understanding of different cultures and religions.

The Bunya Park Scout Group’s participation in the Toowoomba Community Iftar was a valuable experience that promoted cultural exchange and community engagement. The Scouts returned to their troop with a deeper understanding of Islamic culture and a renewed appreciation for diversity. This event exemplified the Scouting values of respect, understanding, and global citizenship.
