Badges Of the Month

Know of a badge you would like included in “Badge of the Month”? Email: acc.youthprogram@scoutsqld.com.au with your suggestion!

Adventurous Journey

Once you have completed leading your Adventurous Journey, you can now display an Adventurous Journey Badge on your uniform!

You can earn this in every section once you have planned and led an Adventurous Journey. The Adventurous Journey should challenge a youth member to apply many of the skills they have built during their time in their current section and allow them to experience a unique outdoor adventure with friends. The badge can be awarded retrospectively to all youth who have completed their Adventurous Journey already.

Please note that participating in an Adventurous Journey planned and led by someone else, does not qualify for the badge.

Chef / Cooking (Personal Growth Special Interest Area)

We have got some great Personal Growth SIA ideas for you to follow.

Who does not love cooking up a storm? Show us your culinary talents by learning how to cook or improving your cooking skills!

Bring out your inner MasterChef and make sure camp meals will never be the same (for the better!).

The links below are to the fantastic Scouts UK program site where you will find all of the resources you need to complete your Special Interest Area Award!

Rover Scouts – The MasterChef Challenge!
You are already accomplished camp cooks (you are Rover Scouts) and need a decent challenge!
Get your Unit Council to pick two dishes from the MasterChef programs that will challenge your cooking skills. Plan, cook and serve your dishes to your Unit, and make them as close to what we saw on TV.
Select your favourite dish here: https://10play.com.au/masterchef/recipes

Scouts Queensland is not affiliated nor received any sponsorship from Network 10 or the producers of MasterChef for this challenge!

Scouts Go Solar

We are featuring another Uniform Badge, this time from the EarthTribe Program resources from World Scouting!
Complete four different activities utilising the power of the Sun to complete your Scouts Go Solar Challenge.
You can also “double dip” as these activities contribute towards a STEM Special Interest Area Award!
Just like the SIA’s, the Scouts Go Solar badge is earned in each section. If you have completed the challenge previously, choose some different activities now that you have grown a lot!
To find out more, check out the Scouts Go Solar resource kit below:
The requirements for the Scouts Go Solar program are on page 14 and suggested activities per section on page 15. Each activity is described fully further on in the resource pack.
