JOEY SCOUT 25 YEAR BIRTHDAY PARTY

What a wonderful year we have had celebrating 25 years of Joey Scouts. To end our 12 months of celebration a final birthday party has been  scheduled for Saturday 25 June 2016 at Queensland Scout Centre commencing at 12 noon and finishing at 2.00 pm. As we are still in the planning stage more information will follow shortly. Put this date into your calendar, we would not want you to miss the fun.

GANG SHOW

Brisbane Gang Show has been performing for 65 years and is one of the longest running consecutive Gang Shows in the world. The Show is a theatrical, musical revue organised by Scouts Australia, Queensland Branch Inc. as a training activity for youth members of both Scouts and Girl Guides. It provides a wonderful opportunity to experience one of Scouting’s great activities.

The theme for this year’s show is “SHIPWRECKED”, with performances commencing from Friday 01July 2016 at 7.30 pm through to the last performance on Saturday 09 July 2016 at 7.30 pm.  Tickets can be purchased by emailing to brisbanegstickets@gmail.com or buy your tickets online through web address:
http://www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx?eid=21222 or by calling 07 3077 6854. The Brisbane Gang Show office will be open from 9.00 am on 01 April 2016.

As Joey Scout Leaders, put some time aside and bring your Mobs and Parents to the Joey Scout Matinee. A Joey Scout Matinee will be held at Schonell Theatre, University of Qld, Sir Fred Schonell Drive, St Lucia on Saturday 02 July 2016 at 1.00 pm. It is a fast moving, two hour cavalcade of singing, dancing and comedy, guaranteed to leave you wanting more.

Why not make your visit part of the Adventure Challenge Badge by using various means of transport to arrive and return, and visiting the sites of the inner city of Brisbane.

HOPALONG

Hopalong is scheduled for next year and will occur on Saturday 18 March 2017 at the Queensland Scout Centre The theme will be ‘SPECIAL NEEDS AND REGULAR KIDS’ and will be facilitated by Ms Michele Johnson, BA Special Needs. More information to follow in the near future.

MINUTE CHALLENGES

There are times when there is a spare moment between a game, a craft, while waiting for the next activity or just before closing parade when you want to keep the Joey Scouts busy, following are some one minute challenges you may wish to try with your Mob:

Minute Challenge Minute Challenge
Play “I Spy” (with my little eye). Try the traditional colours, but also shapes, and perhaps relative sizes, such as big, small, tiny. Play “I Spy” (with my little eye). Try the traditional colours, but also shapes, and perhaps relative sizes, such as big, small, tiny.
Without looking at a clock or watch, estimate a minute. Start in a sitting position. Joey Scouts stands up once they figure a minute has passed. (Suggest they count to 60 — slowly. Or use “Mississippi’s”). For a minute: Joey Scouts take their hat off, put it on the floor and stand up. How many times can they take it off and put it back on in a minute?
