Victor Scouts taking time for Mental Health
As part of Victor Scouts’ community participation, we decided to fundraise for a national organisation called GROW. GROW offers help, support and encourages awareness of mental health issues and has an office near the Victor Scout Hall. So, on 8 October we sold odd socks for ‘Odd Socks Day’. The Victor Scouts sold 60 pairs of socks and, raised $655.
The socks were different lengths, colours and patterns and, were suitable for everyone. Each Scout took several pairs of socks home to sell to family and friends. I spoke with my School Head of House and asked them to send an email to Teachers to invite them to buy some Odd Socks and I also spoke to fellow students. My younger sister decided to support the Scouts and mental health by selling socks to the After School Care Leaders and Teachers.
We held a community evening with the Venturer Scouts on Odd Socks Day and, celebrated by having a sausage sizzle and tie dying more socks.
