Thank you
From the RSL South Eastern District
We would like to extend our sincere thanks for the acts of service that your members provided at this year’s Brisbane Anzac Day Parade. The parade organisers have requested that I also convey their wholehearted thanks to you for the important contribution Scouts Queensland makes to the success of the Parade.
As a token of thanks, the RSL South Eastern District asked us to distribute a gift book from them to as many as possible of the youth organisation members providing service to the parade. We hope your members enjoy reading Tom Curran’s “Across the Bar: The Story of Simpson, The Man with the Donkey: Australia and Tynside’s Great Military Hero”. This was made possible by a kind bequest by the descendants of the book’s author, who were delighted the book would be gifted to youth organisation members supporting the parade.
It is heartening to know that your members, both youth and adult, are taking an active role in preserving the memory of those who have fought for our country’s freedom. Their contributions are a testament to the importance you place on community service and the value of honouring our history.
This year 80 of your members (youth and adult) participated in the parade.
As you may be aware, adult members of youth organisation, serving in Youth Marshal roles, coordinate the activities of youth organisation members and ensure that the event is child safe and child friendly. The Youth Marshal team this year consisted of 19 members drawn from across the participating youth organisations. I extend my particular thanks to the 12 Scouts Queensland members who undertook these critical roles. I particularly note the dedication of Brisbane Parade Scout Fellowship members in undertaking and developing these roles year upon year.
In addition to the contribution made by Youth Marshals across the length and duration of the parade, 174 individual acts of service were delivered by youth organisation members directly to parade participants, including carrying paddles and banners for returned services organisations. Members of your organisation delivered 78 acts of service.
This is a fabulous achievement and a clear demonstration of your commitment to making a positive impact in your community.
Please accept our sincerest thanks and congratulations on behalf of all those who benefit from your service. We encourage you and your members to continue to uphold the Anzac spirit through your ongoing dedication to service.
Sincerely
Clare Reardon & Amanda Nicholls
