From the Chief Commissioner
Welcome to 2023 and Happy New Year to all our members and their families.
Over the last month I trust you have had time to come together as family and friends to enjoy some holiday cheer and I am sure for some of you that holiday continues today!
Things did not totally stop over the last month, and we had:
- 105 Rover Scouts (18-25yo) attend the Apple Ilse Moot at Fulton Park Campsite Northwest Tasmania – with a smaller group enjoying a pre and post tour in Victoria and Tasmania.
- 26 Venturer Scouts (14-18yo) and 5 Adult Leaders attend the New Zealand Venture “Ignite 23” in Christchurch.
Now is the time to start thinking about the Scouting Year ahead, and what your young person is going to be involved with either through participating, assisting or leading an activity in their Unit or Group.
We have some very exciting activities already in the Branch Calendar for 2023 and there is a table below that highlights some Branch and Region activities by section for your information:
This is by no means a full list and your Groups/Districts and Regions will also have a range of local activities planned. For further information jump onto the Website and review the Branch Calendar here.
It is going to be an exciting year and my focus remains on delivering a Program that is adventurous, fun, challenging and inclusive.
With your support we can ensure a really rewarding year for your young person/s.
We have seen a reemergence of COVID over the last few weeks so please encourage the use of the usual precautions – vaccination, social distancing and mask wearing supported by good hand hygiene.
Have a great month and good Scouting!
