40 Years for Greenbank
Greenbank Scout Group celebrated their 40 year anniversary!
Greenbank Scout Group has now been serving Greenbank and surrounding communities, providing youth with a Scouting experience for more than 40 years. To mark this milestone, the group was able to celebrate on the 25 March 2023 with current and past members and special invited guests. The Chief Commissioner pointed out that Scouting has been in the Greenbank area for far longer than 40 years and was also able to surprise 2 current members with their 30 year Service Certificates on the day.
The group took this opportunity to include the celebrations with their biannual transition ceremony, formally welcoming youth into their new Units in preparation for term 2. New members and a new leader were invested and a Joey received her Joey Scout Challenge Award, with a supportive audience to witness this achievement.
It was fantastic that 4 out of the 5 Group Leaders were able to attend the day. One of which was invited by his son who was a past youth member and is now a current leader and parent to his own Greenbank Cub Scout.
Community spirit was plentiful with collaboration and acknowledgment of the groups role in the lives of local youth. This was shown with donations from local MP’s and Drakes (Regents Park), grant funding from the Avid Property group and Logan City Council Community Benefit Fund and local support from Aussie Inflatables.
Current members of the group did a wonderful job on a heritage display, BBQ lunch and activities including cookie and key ring making and supervision of the inflatable obsticle course and dirt cart racing. The hand prints of guests will be proudly displayed in the den to commemorate this special occasion.
