What we’ve been up to!

Celebrating the Success of LEAP24

LEAP24 has just wrapped up, leaving a lasting impact on all involved!

LEAP Southern held in Baden-Powell Park from 26 – 30 June and LEAP Northern held at Tarmaroo Campsite from 30 June – 6 July saw Scouts, Venturer Scouts, Rover Scouts and Leaders from across the state experience a cumulative eleven days of fun, adventure and challenges.

LEAP Southern saw over 400 Scouts partake in four days of fun, including getting to watch the Brisbane Gang Show live at the Draney Theatre. This year, they enlisted Venturer Scouts to help run activities for the Scout Participants. Well done to all involved.

LEAP Northern, while smaller with only 73 Scouts, 22 Venturer Scouts, 3 Rover Scouts, and over 36 Adult Leaders, did offer seven days of programs suitable for both Scouts and Venturer Scouts. Scouts enjoyed a day of aquatic fun at Loam Island and competed in an onsite Ironman Challenge, while Venturer Scouts challenged themselves with a two-night lightweight snorkelling camp in beautiful Florence Bay on Magnetic Island. Both sections experienced stunning sights abseiling off Castle Hill and a fast paced competition with the City Adventure Challenge hosted by Florence Bay Rover Crew. BRAVO to the LEAP Northern team for their success.

We were also honoured to have the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Queensland, Geoff Doo visit both campsites during the events. His presence and hands-on involvement added to the excitement and motivation felt by all participants.

Leadership is at the very heart of what Camp LEAP is about and this year’s events showcased numerous examples of youth leading. These experiences highlight the importance of teaching leadership skills to our participants, ensuring they are well-equipped for the future.

As we reflect on the success of LEAP24, it’s clear that the event has made a significant impact on all who attended. The skills, friendships and memories forged will undoubtedly shape the future leaders of our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers, leaders and participants who made this event possible.

Bribie Island Scouts Adventurous Journey

Charlie from Bribie Island led a patrol of Scouts on K’Gari Great Walk for his Scouts Adventurous Journey.  His application through The Leadership Through Adventure Fund was successful and this assisted with barge costs and hiking equipment.
